On Saturday, June, 1 2019, Norwalk Hospital will host its 16th Whittingham Cancer Center Walk & Run at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk to support the heroic patients, families, caregivers and care teams that fight cancer in our community.
This year’s superhero-themed event includes a health fair, “super” kids’ activities, live music and refreshments. Plus, there will be a superhero costume contest with awards for best team, youth and adult costumes.
Proceeds from the Whittingham Cancer Center Walk & Run will help Norwalk Hospital continue to provide Fairfield County residents access to the most advanced technologies, therapies and care teams to treat cancer — all while staying close to home.
Last year, the Norwalk Hospital Whittingham Cancer Center established the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Clinic — the first of its kind in Connecticut and one of only three in the country. The cancer center also introduced hypofractionated radiation therapy (hypofractionation), a cutting-edge therapy that safely and effectively delivers radiation in fewer treatments than conventional radiation therapy.
